Pepsi’s High-end Water will be Packaged in 100% rPET

Release Time:2019-09-0458

Pepsi’s high-end bottled water brand Lifewtr will use 100% (recycled plastic) rPET bottles from 2020.

The move is part of Pepsi’s plan to reduce more than 8,000 tons of new plastics and about 11,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. PepsiCo plans to make its packaging 100% recyclable, compostable or biodegradable by 2025 and reduce the carbon footprint of its packaging, using 25% recycled plastic in all plastic packaging.

PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta said: “As one of the world’s leading food and beverage companies, we recognize that Pepsi can play an important role in helping society change the way plastics are produced, used and handled. By reducing, recycling and remodeling our packaging. More sustainable, we are doing our part to solve the problem of plastic waste disposal, we will continue to work until we live in a world of plastic recycling.”

Due to the environmental pollution caused by plastics, some beverage companies have begun to act and adjust on the packaging.

Not long ago, PepsiCo announced on June 28 that it will replace the plastic packaging of some products with aluminum cans. The new packaging of aluminum cans of its brand of pure water will be gradually spread around the world; Pepsi plastic bottles are temporarily unaffected. However, in the future, it will be made from a large amount of recyclable materials. Coca-Cola Amatil announced last month that it has produced 100% recycled soft drinks bottles made from recycled plastics. The largest ready-to-drink beverage bottler and distributor in the Asia-Pacific region announced earlier this year that it will be 2020. Its 70% plastic bottle used in Australia will be made from recycled plastic and is expected to reduce the use of 10,000 tons of new plastic resin per year.
